Travelling Band
04:15
|
|||
Well I’m a travellin’ man
Cary a travellin’ band
Lay out the hat
And play all that we can
We’ve been travellin’ through this country
And have crossed a lot of land
Met a lot of fools
N’ have seen some nice ladies
One had trouble paying taxes
The other got himself a dame
And the third as I recall
A lazy lifestyle to maintain
So roll it over and roll around
Little travellin’ band
Play it bad and come around
With hollow pockets and empty hands
Going out and hang around
This little travellin’ band
Soothe your soul and come around
New stories, about that little cash band
Well sent the papers to the test
And they did what they do best
Left a pale man on the bump
With a whole lot of debt
So we dusted up the shoes
Grabbed the box and hopped the booze
Windy streets and dirty bars
All put to good use
And it’s been months now, of pounding loud little wooden box
Chor.
Soothe your soul and your empty pouch
And all your drinks and meals, man... they’re for free
So one went to his neighbor’s house
And he filled up his cup
With some mighty fine brown sugar
Used that fellas sugar right up
Say that might be hard to maintain
For a broke unemployed man
But he’s doing alright
When he keeps up the steam
On that rolling and rambling guitar train
Chor.
Soothe your soul and come around
That special one, yeah well they never come for free
Well the last man on the road
He’s a master in laying low
Got a small house by the river
Lights a smoke and watch it flow
Guess that's all he'll ever need
With some friends and a bag of weed
Boy that river sure can run
Gotta kill that reefer occasionally
Or that man, he'll grow straight into a tree
Chor.
Soothe your soul and come around
With new stories, about that little cash band

Many More Days
04:34
|
|||
Couldn’t cope with the problems at hand
Fear made me a running man
And my embarrassment
I’ve chosen a clouded path ahead
Only laid down in my name
Paved in lonesomeness and decay
I picked my pen and left without a why or where
But I left a word in every stop of my souls fare
I hope to make out a sentence before I’m all gone
Tell a tale with meaning for the next to come
Ain’t got many more days left here in this place of Anguish
I go where no one else would go
I follow the treetops or river flow
And wherever my legs are taking me I’m home
I went to God, I went to man
I turned to science in the end
All frowned at me
I’ve walked alone, I’ve walked in flock
I’ve cursed the heavens in the dark
(Felt more as a stranger as I went
I tied my frustration and pain to a stone
Threw it off a bridge, found that man a new home
As I went on I heard sirens call out in the cold
Called for funeral and tombstone
Ain’t got many more days left here in this place of anguish
I go where no one else would go
I follow the treetops or river flow
And wherever I lay my head is home
I cling to my frustrations like it were my home
They take me away like a rocket to the moon
And there I’ll keep digging till I find the right tool
To bring me back to those sweet memories I once knew
Ain’t got many more days left here in this place of anguish
I go where no one else would go
I follow the treetops or river flow
And wherever my head is taking me I’m home

Scum of the Crowd
03:12
|
|||
Look at you now
Scum of the crowd
I know you
And we both know what it’s all about
You chained up the beast
That’s been starved for weeks
You threw out your old rags
And now you’re down on your knee begging for her
Now you’re sitting there moaning
While you’re sipping on your coke
And every drop free
Of the alcohol you need, is just planting Demon seed
What should be rest for the weary
Is just making you eerie
It seems you always fail the test
Though you try your very best
So look at me now
I know you
Blow of some steam
And we’ll wake up a little further
down the stream
Well you walk into a bar
And you let down your guard
And before you know of it
You’ll be sitting here shooting dice
And you lose a lot of money
And you couldn’t care less for it
Until a jerk share his pint
Right down your spine – Twice!
So you cut down his teeth
Tenderize his meat
And before you’re out
You tell him right out lout
That he shouldn’t mess around with a son of a gun
Now things really got bad
Cuz you got a little mad
And you beat up the cops
Like an angry mob
When they tried to drag you off
So look at me now
Scum of the crowd
Snap off a gun
And begin your run
Cuz I hear the dogs are coming
So now you're skipping down the rails
On the hobo trail
N' cuz of what you are
No one will go your bail
You let your eye strike lightning
And your fist roll thunder
N' all share even of the storms
That you've been forced to keep down under
But when that walnut grip
Smashed through her lips
It wasn't just her eyes
That went pale as a mist
No matter where you’re from
You’re no regular scum
But the kind that take life’s beating
And still gets strung
So look at you now
When your head’s in a noose
Prepare to holler out loud
Cuz now It’s your time again to loose

Alone
03:58
|
|||
Trying to make my way home
Knowing that I’m on my own
I turned on my day
Though it holds nothing for me
Baby this is how it’s been said
And that’s how it’s going to be
So no matter if you’re paying
It won’t be worth for you to see
How can you say that you’re still believing
And then be asking more from me
How can you still be talking
When you broke everything in me
We stood together to fight the war
Not knowing what we were fighting for
Still trying to make my way home
But I’ll just be alone
No matter what I say
You won’t be there for me
Baby this is how it’s been said
And how it turned out
So no matter how I lay it
You’re no more around
I’ve jumped the sky so many times
That it seems I’ve always known the fall
And I can’t stop wondering
Was that you in the door?
We stood together to fight the war
Not knowing what we were fighting for
I’ve been washed away by your tide
And I’ve heard all your reasons
But this time, this time
I read between the lines of your lies
Trying to make my way home
But i’m not the only one alone
So no matter what they’re saying
I’m nowhere to be found

The Struggle
04:38
|
|||
The path of a raindrop from the sky to the roots of a forest
The scent of nectar tampering the nerves in the hearts of the honest
Deceiving the proud into weathering decay
The emergence of new beginnings through the path of an end
So this is what I am
Yeah this is what I am now
You eat me
Deceive me
Then feed me to the ground
Heaven seemed so far away
Settled my mind on decay
But I’m still moving, cuz this is something I simply can’t refrain
A distant light reflected through a maze of thousands of mirrors
A destined beacon that is anchored in the future moving near
The void inside after what was achieved
The last exhale blurring the eyes of the ones who were deceived
So this is what I am
Yeah this is what I am now
You tease me
You need me
Then refrain from me again
Heaven seemed so far away
Settled my mind on decay
But I’m still moving, cuz this is something I simply can’t refrain
The way of the future, so beautiful it deludes the creator
Holographic dance embezzling you into the role of the predator
Struggle with the unknown making you a part of it
Inherent instinct that predestine a circular existence
So this is what I am
Yeah this is what I am now
You eat me
Deceive me
Then make me bite the ground
Heaven seemed so far away
Settled my mind on decay
But I’m still moving, cuz this is some from which I can’t refrain
Decided to go far away
Set this mind on decay
But I’m still moving, cuz you gave me something I simply couldn’t refrain
Hope, hope be gone
Hope be gone again
So I can finally can tell
This circular existence

Songbird
03:11
|
|||
Little songbird she couldn’t make the fly
Winter were coming and the frost close by
Her wings were cut and her voice was weak
And she stood there looking at the tree
Where all summer she had sung her heart out loud
Where all summer she had torn her heart right out
She had sung to every man who had ever been in her yard
They told her about her beauty and how she'd touched their hearts
All craved for something young and frail
And she trusted when they said she couldn't fail
They didn't care that her wings couldn't bare
Once on her own those frail feathers would fail to bring her anywhere
Once the frost came, lights were lit in the little homes
The harder she tried those cold nights rid her voice of tone
When the last window shut closed, the last melody withered out
Once she remembered all who'd tried to bring her with them home
She fell faster than her tears to the frozen ground
When she saw the last of her kin vanish into the clouds
She had given up all she once held dear
For a taste of something that was never there
The only thing that wasn’t a lie
She was left to wither and die
And the mercy of the spirits of the night
The sviftness by the creatures who rule those long winter nights

The Jordan Execution
04:30
|
|||
Have been going over Jordan
On the steps of some old folk
On the top of a bus
With a gun and some liquor i traded for my heart
Been going down the Kings Highway
Rocking out in my favorite rocking chair
All the good people waving in the sideway
I think they all favor that I’m here
Mirrors in the sky tell me I’m as safe as I can be
Behind the sand dunes lie the long fields of green
No time for understanding
No time for long talks
Gonna get it to the men in the glass towers
Earn me my good reward
If you don't dance with us
You don't get to dance at all
Tell you, once you see those fields
You'll hear the call
I placed a lot of bullet holes in the walls of Beirut
And I helped a lot of kings stay in power
Way longer than they should
I stayed around when they had
The wall build around the bank
Sat and stirred up a storm in my coffee
In the back of a generals tank
Well you don’t get to like me
But you get to love the way you drive your car
You don’t get that much to say
But to be safe wherever you are
And to bathe in modern world decadence
That is all
Well I wish I were an apple
I would be dangling from a tree
Would make my branch do all the work
While I grow fat and sweet
I would just be hanging there in the sun
Swaying and bobbing in the breeze
Comes a time when I have to come down
I say I go down with a swing
Well I would start brewing man
Throw myself for the critters down beneath
Yeah I'd start fermenting man
Tell you, all the roaches ants and bees
Their guts gonna be grounded in sweet liquor
They'd be strung out for weeks
I tell you, I know what we need
You and me
Take a drink, let it go
No point in going against the stream
Take a few more we'll bring you home
And you'll forget all about people like me

The Dying Song
05:10
|
|||
I think I’ll drown
But not in the cold high sea
Maybe in a lukewarm freshwater lake
Cuz this world just turned me in
Mid august
I’ll drive my rig
Inland
To a country lake
Not too long
Long drives make me sick
I’ll go fishing
And let the big one pull me in
I promise you all that I’ll send this dying song
From the midst of these lonely woods where I’m at
It’s about the moon the stars and this life’s setting sun
And I’ll curse the hell out of fate and everything that –
shure wasn’t fault
Yeah I’ll send you all this dying song
I could look up the calendar
See if I can find an eclipse
Or something else
That’ll fit
Go on the net
Find others like me
Throw us an orgy
And suck on some tits
Grab that ass
Pop the pill
Meet the maker
And make the big trip away on her ship
And I promise you all that I’ll hum this dying song
While I grab these saddlebags and ride on
My late 90’ies chemical trip
Check out the caps, I assure you – this is the shit
Yeah I’ll hum this dying song
Our old earth is dying
I saw it on TV
But I know some are working on solutions
And I sure appreciate it
I’ll be there to check it
But I doubt it’ll be that effective
Not for me
Could check in
One of them hospices
Switzerland or Monaco
Ask for some mercy
Pay to be free
The doctors will nod
And the nurses weep
Write the book
And sell the scrip
Nag your bones
With my insincerity
But I’m sure you all will be there to check it out
While you wait in line for the album to come out
Cellophane tits’n explossions and a nice flat screen
Celebrate life with a dose of modern cocaine
Yeah I’ll send you this dying song *
My modern friend
Yep…

Stand and Fall
03:53
|
|||
And as I stood there hanging
You came like water on a dry day
And a swift breeze hurled away
All the dust and old leafs from my feet
Now I can see
This stands and falls like a tree
Now I can see
This stands and falls like a tree
Too many nights I stood there swaying
Blinded by the starlight and made-believe
I just stood there dreaming
Then you came along and tuck yourself in
Now I can see
This stands and fall like a tree
Now I can see
This stands and fall like a tree
Sometimes, I admit, I’ve been standing in the doorway
Long coat and boots just watching sleep
With your red hair floating on the bed
Like new fallen leafs on an autumn lake
This ain’t some I can leave
So now I can see
This stands and falls like a tree
Now I can see
This stands and fall like a tree
We all have our place for only shadows
Some deep hole we can dig ourselves in
But you showed this old gravedigger
A place of warmth and hope when I tried to jump in
This ain’t some I can leave
I wish for everyone to see
We stand and fall like a tree
This stand and fall like a tree

Take Me Home
04:33
|
|||
Desperado, always out
Searching the roads first mile
He’s glaring at the kings
And he knows all their names
He wants to be big and famous
He wants all to know his name n’
He once saw a girl, and she fainted
Cuz she caught eye with a king
And they were screaming
Take me home
I wanna go home
Take me all the way home
Desperado hasn’t been far about
Still doesn’t know where he’s at
Inside he knows he’s a fake
On the outside he looks like a wreck
No he can’t seem to find the right road
Spilling his talents on getting old
And he was bleeding
Take me home
I wanna go home
Take me all the way home
Desperado on the run
Eyes shut on the floor with a toy gun
Has been at it for far too long
Forgetting where he’s from
Pharaohs and kings all the same
Stories makes men search for fame
Now he’s circling Memphis
In search of his own name
Take me home
I wanna go home
Take me all the way home
Tuck me in, close the door
Don’t think I can take no more
Take me home
